About The Rescue Mission of Trenton

Our mission. Since it’s founding in 1915, the Rescue Mission of Trenton has been working together to rebuild lives. Our mission is clear: “The Rescue Mission of Trenton is the agency in the City of Trenton that serves the truly needy men and women who have no place to turn for shelter, food, and clothing. The Mission provides a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient, and the addicted. The Mission provides services and counseling to encourage individuals to reach their greatest potential. The Mission creates an environment where one can live with dignity, build self-esteem, experience love, responsibility, and hope.”

The Rescue Mission – rebuilding lives. If space is available, services are provided regardless of how many times an individual has fallen down. To rebuild one’s life is very difficult. It requires clients who are willing to change, a dedicated staff, and support from the community. Not everyone makes it at the Rescue Mission of Trenton, but the Mission can cite dozens of examples of individuals who have sunk in the depths of despair from substance abuse but who are now productive members of society because there was a place dedicated to remaking and reshaping lives: the Rescue Mission of Trenton.

Life Skills Training and Work Therapy. Provides the residents with a sense of belonging and responsibility, is the core of all the Mission’s programs. All residents of the Mission who are physically and mentally capable must participate in work therapy; meal preparation, cleaning, industrial salvage, and other work assignments. The chores range from cleaning floors or making beds to filling roles in our retail store and our industrial salvation operation, which generates approximately one-third of the Mission’s annual revenue.

Our Industrial Salvage Revenue. The bulk of our industrial salvage revenue comes from the re-sale of donated items through our retail store located at 98 Carroll Street in Trenton. We continue to operate the store in addition to selling on eBay through www.rescuemissionoftrenton.org. If you would like to arrange a pick-up of items you would like to donate to the Mission, call us at 1-800-528-8825 or fill out the online form.

Community Donations. We accept donations of quality adult and children’s clothing, furniture, bric-a-brac, working appliances, outdoor furniture and even automobiles. All Donations Are Tax Deductible!
